For Joseph, the most challenging part of his college process was “keeping it together and not worrying about, oh my god, am I going to get into this school? What happens if I get rejected?”
Thanks to his hard work, Joseph earned an acceptance to his top choice school.
When asked what his favorite part of working with CollegeAdvisor was, Lucas told us, “I was very happy that I was able to complete everything on time.”
With the help of his advisor from CollegeAdvisor.com, Lucas applied to 15 colleges and received acceptances from a number of them, including UCLA.

“I need to figure out how to market myself to a school and make myself stand out,” he remembered thinking at the time.

In our interview, Dev told us about how his life experiences have shaped him into who he is today.
Dev notes, “I never felt like I was the odd one out per se, but I did feel a little different than everyone else in my family. And that topic of what it means for me to be an Indian and what it means for me to be an immigrant really came out in my college personal statement.”
Kaelyn was confident in her own preparedness, but she was looking for a personalized experience that she could customize to her liking.
“A lot of the websites and the other companies I looked at, it was more of a program you had to follow,” said Kaelyn. “I loved how CollegeAdvisor worked with you on what you needed, and it was as you needed it. It wasn’t a set program.”
One of Olani’s biggest challenges was navigating deadlines She set a goal for herself to finish all of her essays by October.
“I really wanted to get this done as well and as soon as possible just so that I didn’t have to put my academics on the line for the sake of my applications,” she said. “Because if my grades are going down because I’m trying to get my good application, they’re kind of canceling each other out.”
Lydia says, “I come from an immigrant family, a first-generation [family]. I’m also an only child, so I had no older siblings to help me out.”
In the CollegeAdvisor Scholars Program, Lydia had access to college webinars and other college guides. This helped Lydia feel confident as she began the application process.
